Action-Oriented Research
Addressing sexual exploitation requires: 1) Action-oriented research intended to identify effective policy solutions, 2) Multidimensional policy measures, 3) Aggressive operational responses. The issue is more complex than a single act of wrongdoing since it is structural in nature, therefore it deserves extensive research from its origin in a wide and interdisciplinary perspective. The program has various objectives: to fill knowledge gaps and to address controversial issues, to optimize current research tools, to test innovative methods for data collection, to foster close interaction between academics, action-oriented researchers and policy makers, to develop a specialized library and database, and to network key institutions from academia, development sector and government agencies with key field actors in order to promote complementary efforts and synergies.                                        Results>>>

Thanks to the PhD candidate Nicolas Lainez, AAT works with academic partners (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales-EHESS, Research Institute on Contemporary Southeast Asia-IRASEC, Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities); and with international non-profit (US-based Prevent Human Trafficking) to research and spread results. For instance, an edited volume on trafficking and slavery in the colonial period of Vietnam under the title of “The Yellow Trade” including papers from top senior scholar researchers is forthcoming.
